"NEW YORK - A twin-engine American Airlines airbus A-300 has crashed in the New York borough of Queens, leaving at least four buildings on fire. No word so far of injuries.

CNN says flight 587 was on its way to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic when it went down at about 9:15 ET, near Kennedy International airport, in the Far Rockaway neighbourhood. Plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the site. "
