I really can't convey what it's like to live in NY since Sept 11. Each time one's loyalty to the city gets tested. I don't know if the anthrax was a homegrown nut (I don't think the FBI has the greatest record so far, i.e. Unabomber or McVeigh!!!!) but it's been relentless since early September.

And I'm all empathied out--and yet not. It was quite different for me, watching Oklahoma City for instance. There is something about people continually dying in your city that is your home--it is too much.

I tend to think that it was an explosive in the baggage section, set to go off by timer or cellphone. UGH!!!!!!

I can certainly understand a dwindling willingness to fly.

What I keep thinking about is that much of Queens is Irish and many of the firefighters live there. I can't imagine having had to mourn the loss of so many friends and neighbors, and now this.
