I've been trying to be careful to note that we don't know whether the cause was mechanical failure or sabotage.

Either way, the airline is an already severely shaken industry and this can only add to the "fear of flying"..

You are correct in that we shouldn't jump to conclusions and it is looking like it may just be mechanical failure at this point. I guess if we are going to have a crash I would prefer to see mechanical failure:(
