<< Win XP. Then add all the Service Packs into the mix, and it's very hard to figure out just what constitutes "Windows." That's before you even consider the Itanium. Very confusing for the average consumer. >> The answer is XP for the average consumer. The other options you listed are out of date, or are for the business customer. XP No service packs really, XP is linked to MSFT and will offer to update your OS whenever something is available. It's all automatic if you want it to be. Dave
