Tim,

The intra-day volatility has been getting higher the last week. Part of it may be due to options expiration, but the increase volatility is pointing to a move out of the current range. Fundamentals point to the down side, but the market has not been paying attention to fundamentals, so I have not idea which direction the break goes in.

For the storage sector which stock are the strongest from a fundamental point of view ... new products, increase in market share etc ....

From the charts it looks like QLGC and NTAP are the strongest.

I have been concentrating on stock that have started new product cycles GNSS, KOPN, MRVL and AVNX. Also TELM as a play on the continuation of hybrid SONET and D-WDM networks. TLAB was their only competitor, but it looks like they have stopped development on their existing product.

1:06PM Brocade Comms (BRCD) 29.65 -0.59 (-2%): Hearing reports out of SoundView's Technology Conference that BRCD management was pleasantly surprised with how biz recovered at the end of Sept, but would not comment on OctQ revenue. Continues to experience strength from government accounts. Management's discussion of margins leaves SoundView more comfortable with its 2002 estimates.
