I think the problem is that there is no other currency to convert to. That is why the dollar is still so strong. Europe has its own problem and who in their right mind would want anything else other than Euros or dollars. This recession is a global one.

If the Taliban fall in next two weeks (odds seem to be increasing for this scenario) and bin laden is routed out of his hole (may be sooner than one would think) it would lead to stronger $$. Maybe market is anticipating this?
