RE:"Maybe AMD should hire Britney Spears to do a music video with Athlons! LOL!"

That's a better idea than AMD has ever had.

As far as name brand...I think you are right on the money. Intel has large public PR presence and AMD has little public presence. It's more like COca Cola than being known as a Lexus or Mercedes.
Fact is that most people don't know enough about CPUs to know a Cadillac from a Yugo. All they know is Intel makes CPUs for PCs...when they shop, the name rings a bell.

Where Intel really shines is getting OEMs to put chips into retail computers in the first place. Then the consumer is left with little choice. He goes to a store and sees Intel chips in most of the computers. Just the numbers game makes Intel the winner...

AMD has never been able to mount a credible Ad campaign IMHO...they just let Intel PR crap all over them. The public doesn't even know who babbler Jerry is much less listen to him.

Jim

you definitely have yet undiscovered marketing talents :-))

Re:AMD is far from becoming the Pepsi of semiconductors
true but have you noticed that there are more posts (percentage) about amd on intel thread than Pepsi on Coke :-))
(disclaimer: I did not really count the posts :-)) but I hope that the point was obvious)
