Getting even further OT:

The second worst car I ever had was a Renault 20. It was a somewhat rare automatic transmission version. Lots of problems. We had taken the car from Belgium to Spain and my son subsequently blew the engine near Paris, Never even got a franc for it since we were not able to go there and sell it for salvage.

The worst car was an Austin 1100 when we were in Libya. However, we also had a Renault 4 there and it was one of the best I have ever operated.

Other car stories by request only. <gg>

Yes, it's true the Dauphine was wonderful in snow. I drove it all around the Boston area in snowstorms and never even used chains. And as yous say, if you had two guys it was easy to park by simply lifting the front end and putting it into a space; all you needed was a few inches of clearance.

That car could easily have cost me my life. I was young and crazy, but I took it deep into Mexico, all by myself. It also had been to Istanbul. It was plastered with stickers like an old steamer trunk when I finally abandoned it in Vermont.

I think of it the way I think of a couple of women I knew at the same time, and consider myself tremendously lucky not to be married either to them or to the Dauphine.

Well, it may be off topic, but talking about former cars is more fun than exchanging insults!
