Muzosi, Re: "amd is not the competition at 64 bit server space"

Nor will they be, at least in the near future.

Re: "if i need a 64 bit workstation/server to run gate level regressions, ia64 is the last machine which comes to mind."

Fortunately for Intel, a lot of businesses feel differently. Itanium may not be exactly flying off the shelves, but there are a ton of software developers that feel boldly enough in favor of Itanium's success, that they are taking the time to port their applications over to the new architecture.

Too bad no one is doing this for Hammer.

yep, that's a good cop out. unfortunately for intel, amd is not the competition at 64 bit server space. if i need a 64 bit workstation/server to run gate level regressions, ia64 is the last machine which comes to mind.

Muzosi What do you expect for an architecture that's only been out for 6 months? Give it some time.
