Companies could give the 6.2% FICA that they pay, back to their employees instead of the Government. Doesn't hurt the companies bottom line since they currently pay it and it helps families immed.

The average wage in Colorado is 33,000. 6.2% of that 33,000 is 2046.00/yr or 170.00/month.
This would be huge for a dual income family. You would see this economy start to heat up if you gave the average family an extra $170-$340/month to spend. That is almost 7 times what President Bush's tax cut gave us.

Of course, I forgot about taxes and in my case brother union stealing out of my pocket.....Both suck!

Here is a social security privatization calc.
socialsecurity.org

How people can be against having the choice of privatization is beyond me?

Selfish, arrogant democrats!!! Think they know what is best for me and my family.

<<OK, I wasn't thinking of it that way. In that case, a 5% reduction of tax RATE would
be better than just 5% less taxes.>.

Well reasoned response, Bald Eagle.. When social security is discussed I am all for a portion, a goodly portion,
of the contribution being invested such as a 401k/b, and, yes, a temporary reduction in contribution would certainly help out the lower income worker. As a formerly self-employed individual for over 30 years who paid the entire contribution out of my income I wistfully dream of the nice nest egg I could have had if invested in mutual
funds or other growing investments over that period of time. A nice estate I could leave to my children.
