Jubilation in Kabul?

news.bbc.co.uk

There are scenes of jubilation in Kabul, following the Taleban's withdrawal from the city overnight.
The BBC's John Simpson, who entered the Afghan capital on foot ahead of Northern Alliance forces, says huge crowds gathered in the city shouting "death to Pakistan" and "death to the Taleban".

The BBC's Kate Clark says that on the way to the city alliance forces passed through miles of devastation - ruined towns, razed orchards and burnt vineyards.

But as soon as they got closer to Kabul, she says, villagers stood cheering on the alliance, some throwing flowers on the tanks as they drove past.

As Gomer Pyle said "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise".

I knew the Talibs were bad news when they blew up the Buddha while cooing and kvelling - "God is Great!"

No wonder Pakistan didn't want Kabul taken. Ohhh my! The stories that come out will probably be a PR nightmare for Mushareff. Oh well, enough from me for a while.
