I am as impatient as you are and want to see The Collapse happen so that we can be on our merry way again, but, alas, this time things are different, and the unwinding will take plenty of time, to squeeze out the last drop of optimism, squash the last dollop of enthusiasm, grind down the final bit of resistance, and disillusion the last speculative investor, and make poor yet one more baby-boomer. I think, though cannot be sure, but is none-the-less shy about committing to paper assets at their current valuations. <<a beatin the week after 9/11 … have made it back.>> I envy your freedom to take outsized chances. I manage money for some of my relations, and when 911 happened, no one called me up in panic. I got curious and less busy and telephoned them after three weeks and asked why they apparently did not care about their funds under my care. Their responses followed a common logic, “at the beginning of the year you said anything can happen this year, and so we figured anything just did and the portfolio allocation anticipated anything.” <<AG has provided the lower rates, congress the stimulus package to give'em the hope for a recovery .This and the liquidity provided will power the mkt ahead IMO.>> Agree that the market will power ahead, much like a flying machine, but I am uncertain about the direction, and uncomfortable about what may happen when the fuel empties, and hope gives out. <<Japan be damned>> They have been, but can live on savings for a while longer. <<Still gotta be a stock picker of course>> Yup, and when deciding, sit on cash. <<Good God man where wuz you on the 11Th?>> I was in a state of shock and low energy, but I did not have to give my portfolio a second thought, or even a first one. I advise continued caution, because the global financial flying machine is vibrating after severe wobbly turbulence, and the pilot Greenspankie just stepped on the gas pedal. We are going places, faster. Chugs, Jay
