Absolutely, John. I expect and hope that the Taliban withdrawal is being exploited by our forces in the skies and, as unclewest noted, by hastily organized, A Team-lead irregular units on the ground.

Is anyone surprised - I'm certainly not - that the swollen bags of filth, putrescence and vomit calling themselves soldiers ("soldiers") who'll beat women with steel rods and directly support terrorism against civillians half a world away are now running away? Spineless cowards, every one of them.

The Iraqis didn't get to run away from Kuwait unmolested in the Gulf War. See deoxy.org . That account is a little lurid, it's just the first one I came up with on google.

Hi John Carragher; I think you can be pretty sure that the US Air Force is keeping the panic going for every plane they're worth.

And they'll continue to do so until they get a surrender from the Taliban (which will never come) or until the politicians call them off, which may be doubtful given what happened when they pulled that stunt in Iraq.

The thing to worry about now is that the Taliban are somehow going to make a switch to guerilla tactics. But with Kabul apparently celebrating, perhaps our worries aren't so bad. Especially if we never end up having to put large numbers of troops on the ground. (It would be nice, but I doubt that the Pentagon is planning for such an easy victory.)
