Older people?
Wow, you are right, you definitely aren't logical.
Who is talking about ridding our society of older people? Only you. You've tried to emotionally re-direct the argument to a totally illogical place.
We are talking about leaving reproductive decisions in the hands of women. You are already born, unless you are really a fetus typing, you are "safe".

You are a silly man to think Karen and I have no feelings on this. I am sure we both feel very strongly as women that we do not want anyone else to decided whether we do or do not have children. Or whether we are compelled to bear children with terrible birth defects. No one will compel you NOT to have a child with a birth defect. You are free to have as many as you want. If you are really emotionally connected to them, go adopt some- there are always many available.

I take this personally, because in the name of "rationality" I might be one of the first to go, in the interest of ridding our society of unproductive older persons.

Good grief! First you had me advocating abortions, including late term abortions. Then you moved to gender wars and forced euthanasia. All because I challenged the logic of one of your statements.

Your original statement was:

<<How would you feel if your wife or sister had been conceived by an act of rape? Would you prefer that they had never lived? Would you have preferred that they be aborted (i.e., killed) in the womb?

One of the most compelling arguments against abortion is that there are living people today who were conceived by an act of rape. No doubt some are wives and sisters. >>

I asserted that that argument was hardly compelling, let alone one of the most compelling arguments because it would be nutty to mourn the loss of a potential wife or sister who never touched your life.

It would be a barren existence indeed if cold logic and rationality ruled our lives.

Sure beats hysteria.

Karen

P.S. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your sister. How you must have suffered all these many years without her! I'm sure that not a day goes by without your mourning the opportunities her presence in your life might have offered had she been allowed to be born, the love you might have shared. My thoughts are with you in your lifetime of mourning.
