B-witch... I'm not "against" solar... especially passive solar.

I'm just looking for a "reality check" by those who propose solar, or even wind, power.. as a complete replacement for, or primary generator of, the nation's power.

It's just not efficacious to do so.... But on the other hand, a nuclear/hydrogen combination where modern and more safely designed nukes could produce power both for the nation power grid, but also supply the off-peak power needed to produce large quantities of hydrogen needed for fuel cells, should be a feasible scenario for superceding fossil fuels as the primary source of energy...

Energy independence is a national security issue, which makes it topical to foreign affairs. But I still believe we should carry this conversation to other threads.
