In a statement a week or so ago OBL said that even if he is killed the campaign lives. Presumably he saw his demise at that time.

Also do not overlook the fact the OBL is sick (liver & kidneys). I think he needs a dialysis machines - kind of restricts one's mobility. Sometimes he looks very jaundiced. He may be spurred on by the handwriting on the cave wall.
