I was pleased to see Pakistan offer peace keepers for Kabul duty. That looks good on the diplomatic front and frees NA troops for heading south.

John, guess the trash talk coming from the Taliban was just that, trash talk. Wasn't it just a week ago that the Taliban was considered "defiant" even in the face of bombing?

dailynews.yahoo.com

``I thank God that even with all the bombardment on Jabal-us-Saraj we were able to protect our lines in all our positions, and as you can see our morale is high,'' said one fighter carrying a rocket-propelled grenade launcher. [Afterwards, he looked at his commander and said, "That's exactly what you told me to say, right?"]

Of course, some actually believed the lies the Taliban were spreading and questioned the effectiveness of America's military campaign. Oh well, I guess that was to be expected. (The same questions arose during the war in Kosovo and the Gulf War, and both times the skeptics were proved wrong.)

John - Re: "sounds like the Taliban is down and about to be put out. Mass defections, going back to their tribes in the south."

It ain't over til it's over !

Re: "The military part could be wrapped up by Thanksgiving, the political part may never end."

That's the absolute truth.

Re: "And then there is bin Laden. Wonder how long he will last, without his friends."

I'd like to see him go up in a nuclear mushroom cloud.
