Hi Joseph,

>OTOH- Pakistan may line their troops up at their border and shoot the Taliban as they get close, putting the Talibans in a squeeze.

That will probably not happen. Given the following facts, it is more likely that some of the top Taliban officials shall escape via Pakistan with the help of the Pak ISI:

A) The Taliban movement was started in Pakistan.
B) A majority of the Taliban are "educated" (brain washed) in the Madrasas of Pakistan.
C) The ISI (Pak intelligence) still has close links to the Taliban. Only a couple of days ago a British journalist was arrested in the middle of the night, detained for 18hours without food and then deported by the ISI for (according to her) uncovering their providing arms secretly to the Taliban.
D) The Taliban are Pashtuns and a good part of Northern Pakistan is also Pashtun. The Pakistan government is risking civil war at this time.
E) The Pak government doesn't like the Northern Alliance and wouldn't weaken the Taliban and thus empower the NA (who by the way take every opportunity on CNN to bash Pakistan for having created/supported the Taliban).
