I may be wrong as I wasn't reading this thread for much of 1999-2000, but I think their point is that you argued that AMZN was a good buy at many times its current price, that you said they just didn't "get it" (or were "clueless", perhaps) if they thought it was significantly overvalued then, and that, now, all you will acknowledge having said is that AMZN would "survive" in some form. If you want to make a case for AMZN's financial viability going forward or for its current valuation being attractive, have at it, but expect everyone to discount or even ridicule any arguments that are not based on sound analysis of financial/operational fundamentals of AMZN's business. New economy arguments won't cut it as "Mr. Market" has already dismissed them as, at best, misguided fluff. Admitting that the "new economy" was a myth and that AMZN's fundamentals have fallen way short of any expectations that would have even remotely justified the once, and some say still, lofty valuations would be a good start in your rehabilitation.
