JRI: No disrespect intended, and certainly don't take offense, but I see nothing but supposition in this comment of yours. Go take a look at the VIX on a historical chart and look at the types of spikes we've had in the past 5 years and match that with the market action which followed.....Oct. '98 and Oct. '99, for example. I think you are placing too much hope in the VIX to confirm your plan, as a bear, and overlooking past examples of how the VIX behaves and when it is time to start paying attention to it's wiggles. Even if we get to 25 on the VIX, it really means very little. 20 means something at this point, 25 may only mark the low of a range that could go on for months. Just my thoughts, fwiw.
