I don't think the PPT is in action today, it is "itchy" money coming "late to the party", just as most "smart money" (at least I think it is smart money) is selling them marked up merchandise. I like buying them when they are marked down, like PDII today, and soon, QLTI and NOVN.

Metsin, we were at an important point where the bulls and bears were pretty equally divided, and many bears were starting to defect like Afghans to the bull side. The timing was right to juice the futures after the taking of Kabul. We gapped up at open 31-points, and followed through with only an additional 21 points to close. It is hard to say that we would have gone that high without the 31-point head start.

That's the power of PPT. By buying thinly traded futures early, they can spook a ton of people into buying or covering short positions, or initiating long positions upon a breach of an important resistance point. There are also the fence sitters who could be compelled to throw in the towel and buy, as there is lots of cash still on the sideline.

Anyway, I didn't believe in PPT until I read a NY Post article describing their members and their operations. The PPT attempts are a temporary fix at best, but somehow the powers feel that doing something is better than doing nothing.

someone need dig out that NYPost article(it was posted several times on SI).That was the article that put teeth into what many were saying.
PPT reminds me of Coyotes in Maine.Back in early 80s everybody new Coyotes were all over Maine. But the State kept reassuring the public(for up to 5 years of denial) that there are NO coyotes in Maine it is just fantasy by the public.
Guess what state finally comes out and admits we HAVE a Coyote problem, they are over-running the state and they are BIG coyotes--up to 50lbs.
So yes Virginia, there is a PPT,it is not like a coyote but it is like a Santa Claus and his little helpers that have bags of money for Mr.Market when ever it looks pale and about to pass out and fall over.Max
