Consumers want it to be bundled. There is absolutely no reason to separate the stuff, just like you wouldn't want to install Windows Media Player or Internet Explorer from separate CDs.
When you have tried to have everything as part of the same installation process, you don't want switch back.


You might want to check out Dell's web site.

You can order a PC from them with MS Office bundled with Windows XP. The consumer doesn't have to install this himself. Dell and most other PC vendors do this for their customer.
