It's not that they pay, it's how much that's important.

And unless you are an insider (your posts do not indicate that level of knowledge), then you are probably unaware of the construction of the lisencing agreements as well.

Generally they contain confidentiality clauses. And when revenue is at stake, sunset clauses and renegotiation triggers.

Often, one or the other party will describe some of the substantive construction of a contract. Generally in a light that makes them look like winners. But in this selective disclosure, they often neglect to mention any of the balancing clauses.

Uncle Frank was pointing out in an earlier post the impact of bias and motive. I'm probably not as trusting as you, so me personally, I wouldn't bet a lot of my money on the sure thing that Q has completely escaped this patent expiration trap.
