Quantispeed would soon be Quantigone. 3400 appears to be the actual mhz for hammer, the quantispeed of the slowest Hammer is 4200 (as can be seen on this slide) event.mediaondemand.com Lengthening the pipeline by 2 stages plus the shrink to .13 plus SOI appears to be doubling the clock speed of Hammer (relative to present Palomino). Something of a disappointment, really. When motorola implemented the same move (2 stage pipeline extension plus .13 plus SOI) they tripled the clock speed of PowerPC. But 2 stages is much less of a percentage increase on Athlon than PowerPC, so I guess that 3.4GHZ speed is all we'll see at first (end of next year).
