I disagree with your assessment of the situation. I suspect that the U.S. didn't need the "We'll let India do whatever they want to you" card. I think that the U.S. said "either you are fer us or agin us".

But again, the U.S. may have asked India to not do anything, but India still made the decision to not do anything. And I suspect that India made the decision because in the long run it will be beneficial to them. And I suspect that the Indian government knows this from conversations that neither you nor I heard. So my argument still stands that you should be pissed at your own government and not the U.S.

BTW: If Musharraf said and did the things that indicated that he didn't condone the terrorism by Pakistanis on India, would you (or India) ever try to work out a peaceful co-existence with him? Or are his past sins to great for India to ever allow a peaceful co-existence with Pakistan while Musharraf is in power?
