KLP,

I think your suggestions are right. They kind of go along with what I just told Michael M. We have to clean up our own house first, which includes tracking the illegal aliens that are here now. Why can't some people recognize what the word "illegal" means?? It means that those that are illegal, are breaking the law. They are, in a way, criminals, and should be dealt with as such. I like the Mexican people very much, but cannot give them special consideration on the legality of sneaking into this country without papers.

We have too many loose ends flapping around for a national ID card to solve all of our problems.

A national ID card could just as easily be faked as a driver's license... we don't need a national ID card, that would just be another passport..... we could make it more difficult to fake a driver's license and social security cards, and we could enforce the illegal alien laws we already have on the books... if a person is illegal, send him/her back where they came from... why sanction an illegal with additional ID cards, we have so many laws on the books already not being enforced... half the criminal problems would probably disappear if we only enforced the laws we already have.....

there are many things to consider first BEFORE we start penalizing the citizens of this country -- some things to consider:
`` We could start immediately requiring every, EVERY, person entering this country who is NOT a citizen to have not only a Visa, but a National ID card. And we should track them.
``We could next issue a National ID card to the several million illegal aliens currently in this country.

I agree with you that we should be keeping track of aliens, but the logic of giving ID cards to "them" rather than "us" is backwards. The ID cards need to be assigned to those who are safe rather than those who are dangerous or iffy. Then you can restrict access to "us"--those WITH ID cards. You don't allow "them" into the Washington Monument or airplanes or flight school or laboratories. It makes no sense for the fertilizer salesman to sell to only those who DON'T have identification because those with alien IDs will just deny they have one. It can only work the other way.
