13:42 ET IBM (IBM) 113.51 -3.19 (-2.7%): -- Update -- Stock on the defensive going into 16 ET analyst meeting. As has often occurred ahead of an IBM event, rumors flying off trading floors that this will finally be the time that Big Blue admits that it has not escaped the economic downturn unscathed. In the markets today are rumors ranging from layoffs to CEO departure. Would note that those short IBM or other stocks have attempted to bash issue in the past with no success. However, as in the past, these rumors have been successful in temporarily weighing on the stock, as is being seen today.
