AGA figures just showed up: +7

highlandenergy.com

I admit I really expected a minus figure, and I don't think NG is going to be moving up for a while if this is the way things are going. I guess production increases and consumption cuts are just about offsetting new electrical generation.

Dabum and Thread,

Although you have been erroneously identified as the founder of the HTP thread, I feel compelled, in the interest of fairness, to open up this discussion to those lurkers we haven't yet heard from.

In short, although it might seem that Slider and Isopatch have a credibility problem here on the thread, it seems a good idea to open up the thread to those, in particular, who find Slider and Isopatch credible, creditable and/or competent, to come forward and tell what you have found particularly prescient. It may be a little hard to generate immediately all those supporting cast members here on SI, since there are none of those multiple identities which come in so handy on the RIG thread, but we have plenty of time and if there is a coterie of loyal camp followers (and there might be) then this forum ought to be open to them as well.

My own favorite chart, although it seems unfair to do it on a NEM day like today, is an 80-week chart which coincides with the "gold call" from July 2000. A year and a half into the gold call and the return is pretty sad, given all the risk:

Yup, a passbook savings account at your local bank would beat both of those "favs".

dabum...re: your sour grapes misrepresentations

...while we often agree to disagree; it never resorted to complete and total fabricated misrepresentations.

...why don't you post the dates of that post ?

I added to my long OSX position dramatically and mainly via calls into the morning the OSX bottomed at 58... you know the call was made livetime-intra-day on the Yahoo RIG thread and "I" was the only one making it,literally the only one making a "BOTTOM" call....just as I was the only one on the RIG thread calling for the mass exodus on June 5th as well.

But, more important than making the TURN/Bottom call; was I explained "WHY"...and you morons also disputed the "WHY" - that being the premium assined for the potential "War & Oil Supply disruptions".... you guys all poo-poo'd that idea; you all were Big Bad Bears going short right at the bottom (whodatunkit) ?...days later; the media talked openly about the "premium" for oil supply disruptions... amazing.

I also called for OSX 82ish as the "wall" of "Fair Value" where the rally would eventually stall as well - the posts are there on Yahoo... and where did we stall ?

dabum; I can't believe that anyone with any remaining sanity can possibly dispute that I was basically all alone in making both the mass exodus/TOP call on June 5th on the Yahoo RIG thread; as well as being all alone in making the "bottom/TURN" call in September..... and "all alone" is not an exaggeration.

Supplyside Econ led the anti-Slider tirade back in June at the top and you led the anti-Slider tirade on my interim bottom/TURN call in Sept made live/intra-day at the EXACT bottom of this last leg.

You said you wanted to "wait" for technical conformation. Then when I continually posted - "has it TURNED - yet ?"...you; kept poo-pooing the OSX move all the way up to OSX 78 where you nimrods got bullish again....

It's all there in black & white on the Yahoo RIG thread.

The TA guys - you included; wouldn't/couldn't make a call,,, you straddled & double-dribbled - period.

Also; fwiw; I short very select individual stocks... I made a nice trade on the homebuilders short... no homerun, but a nice pop. But, the Industry that I specialize in - finanaicals/subprimes; I did hit some homeruns short - ie: Conseco & Providian etc.

I didn't short the QQQ's, or the SOX... of late; allthough they are certainly getting into short territory here and I STILL absolutely fully expect to see a DOW 6-7000 and a triple digit NAZ before this STILL INTACT Bear Market is done.... and Gold is doing just fine Mr. Bum....still up a ton over the last 52 weeks...still leading virtually every other sub-sector and a multi-year secular Bull is just now forming... get on board little doggies - even you hairless ones... as it's just starting !

PS: kodialbullshyster: the gold portfolio weighting call was made in the 90 day window of Sept/Oct/Nov last fall... its clearly on record...nice try though...

...ed, you need a psychiatrist, or buy a better brand of gin....maybe John "T" (for Tanqueray) Clarke will send you a case of the good stuff (vbg)....you gotta get off the "bumpy" - it will rot your brain.

ciao... just slummin for ole times sake.

Dabum, "the rest of the story" regarding the "calls."

First, Slider posts his MARGINED portfolio, second his portfolio turns to shit with the exception of the 10% of it that's in the oils, third he taunts the rig board CLAIMING large gains. I think there's something wrong with this picture but then I have a hard time with SD11 new math.

Here are the posts outlining this odd journey:

Slider's message:
............................................................
messages.yahoo.com

<<I've taking profits; just rolling over "some" (not all, not most) of my profits into some out of the money - highly levered calls in case we get an event driven spike from the War... all in all; given the still slowing global economies and the present commodity prices - OSX is fairly valued here.

"THE TURN" was a trade...30-50% pops in the bank... thanks again guys - now I get to roll some Oil trade profits back into a little goldstock pullback & get to do it all over again... rolling trading waves - gotta love it.>>

<<I just dropped in and I see you "taunting the unwashed" and "rolling over profits." I find that amusing since the last time I dropped in I noticed you were predicting a triple digit nasdaq and claimed to be invested for the drop. I thought that was crazy but hey I'm not the one that's never wrong, wrong, wrong, never wrong--------------.

Let's see, now where did those profits come from. Less than 3 weeks ago, at about 9 am on the 3rd of October it looked like another bad day in Black Rock for the broad market as the nasdaq dropped to about 1480. You jumped right on that bandwagon and said you were short AND MARGINED. Your words were:

messages.yahoo.com; mid=26153

"FWIW; I'm:

- 25% short the broad market
- 10% long Oilpatch
- 65% long gold/silver stocks (trading between 40-65%)
- Cash from "0" to margined, up to 25% cash"

FWIW, that was a bad call, in fact some might say a really bad call. The nasdaq went up from 1480 when you made your call to end up at 1580, THAT DAY. Gold has dropped, the nasdaq and the broad market has rallied and only your 10% oils have made any money.

Are you rolling the profits off of that 10% of your portfolio into margin calls? Is that what you meant when you said today that: " I've taking profits; just rolling over "some" (not all, not most) of my profits into some out of the money - highly levered calls...." gg.

If you're going to taunt the rest of us, at least give most of us enough credit to see through such thinly veiled puffery. By the way, where IS Supplyside. I read his posts every time I found one. He was no grandstander but he could sure think. Don't you belong back on the inbred thread where never is heard a disparaging word; at least not twice with Frank on that switch to save you from reality checks. Ed

"Remember what the doorman said--be a head, be a head." From that same tale we learn that "the words mean what I mean them to say." Obviously Slider and Isosmug are well versed in the moral of that story. g. Ed, detective inc.
