No. Linux doesn't crash if the graphics driver is unstable and survives many other kinds of drivers, especially newer USB drivers. That's also why Linux doesn't need to reboot if these drivers are changed.

No, I don't code machine code - but a Microsoft supporter told me that the c:\source directory could be removed by the system restore facility, which was exactly what happened during a reboot.

Thinking about it, I realized that this was a reasonable explanation, because at the start of the day, I installed a piece of software, and when it asked me to reboot I said no. At the end of the day I rebooted, and after the reboot, Windows Me had removed all the subdirectories I created in the C:\ root directory. God knows why.

According to Microsoft, you should put all your documents in the Documents folder - this way they will never be rolled back.
