Thomas: True, but in the Q's case, there is no possible participation in CDMA at all on the part of any company without a license from Qualcomm. That is control - in spades. But as you point out, it is not control of the architecture of the boxes or uses - or as Eric L points out it is not control of the standards bodies either.

The play between a lock on CDMA as such and on its uses is a fascinating question in GG terms.

Hope wiser heads here (including you - not me) will weigh in.

My position is simply that it is too early to judge re: the potential mobile wireless data tornado, except to indicate that there ain't one yet.

Also re: WCDMA, Eric L may well be right. Time will tell.
