wbmw, Yes, what you say is quite true....to a degree. I feel this is more serious than you do because I feel Compaq knows what it is doing in servers and would not make such a critical error. Now Dell has not found the error? or have they? Dell may just be better at secrets since the HP/CPQ merger has left many people with the feeling they will be out of work soon. Such people are well known to have looser lips.

mbmw,<<<Even IBM and others have these kinds of issues, but it's big news when the media is able to catch such a leak and then make ignorant conclusions based on their inexperience with the debug process.>>>

What do you mean even IBM? What major IBM enterprise class system have you ever encountered that did not have major bugs during the debug and stress test phase of roll out?

This is the natural state of the enterprise hardware environment. The requirements are very demanding, and the complexity way beyond anything in the PC hardware environment.

Unlike the PC world, where you may have a million beta test sites and several hundred million users reporting bugs in the system, the enterprise system environment is far more complex and getting bogged down in the debug process is part of life.

AMD has no presence in this environment and for the most part do not have a clue how these things work out.

For AMD to gloat in what seems to be Intel failures is way too premature. What goes around comes around. AMD should be so fortunate that someday they too can encounter this type of problem.
