I agree with your analysis. If the US doesn't give taliban a tea break for a month and keeps pounding with ever better intelligence from the ground, I think taliban and the expendable part of al qaida is history.

Someone today mentioned that the F15 is a large earthmoving machine, which is an interesting way to see it in this battle. With good intelligence we could seal every cave or firestorm them with the oxygen-depletion method. Just keep doing it methodically, day after day. That's how wars are fought and won. Something the geniuses at al qaida HQ hadn't considered in their battle plan.

Also it's a great lesson for this generation on why you do not attack superior power however self-confident and brilliant you think you are.

However, the "war" on terrorism doesn't stop if Omar and Usama come out with their hands up or even belly up. The whole ostrich syndrome with regard to Islam and terror is finished. Hitler is exposed again, and we can't let him live on to kill again and again as he otherwise will.

I worked and lived in the Middle East a long time ago. People were mouthing the same BS about Islam and democracy then, and how we needed to bend over backwards so as not to offend. Those days are done, unless Bush Jr. follows in his weak father's footsteps or we re-play the "bomb for the evening news" strategy of clinton. Time for truth, honesty, and the self-interested use of power to set things as right as one can.

The allies and the enemies are made clear for us all now. Hopefully we won't let the enemies and the defeatists pull the wool over our eyes again.
