Have you considered the possibility that the 762 may not actually be that good in TPC?

Athlon MP did 1.2 GHz did very well on Anand's database server benchmark, beating 1.7 GHz P4 by a wide margin. TPC is score that should be roughly related to most general database scores.

When you say "good", the question is compared to what? Compared to 2 GHz P4, Athlon MP 1.53 or 1.6 GHz (1800+ - 1900+), Athlon should do extremely well.

Tualatin Piii 1.26 with 512K L2 would probably be the toughest Intel based competitor. I don't know about 700 MHz Cascades with 2 MB L2, or the ficticious 900 MHz model, but my guess they are below the 1.26 GHz Tualatin.
