Eight foreign aid workers plucked out of Afghanistan by US military helicopters after three months in Taliban custody were flown to a military air base in Islamabad on Thursday, said sources.

The aid workers that included two Americans, two Australians and four Germans landed at Chaklala air base at 8:10 am (0310 GMT) where they were received by the US ambassador to Pakistan, Wendy Chamberlin.
