Isopatch,

You don't have to tell me how screwed up the electoral process is, it is far from the democracy the average American assumes is in place. The political parties want to further their agenda, all while paying lip service to the population. And if you think the Republicans really want a limited government, think again. Why would they ever want to reduce their power and influence by reducing the size of the government? No, it is just that they have their set of programs to spend on, vs the Democrat's programs. Both parties want a greater federal presence in American's lives, just in slightly different ways.

I am a Libertarian and became that way when I was a Political Science major at UCSD. The more I learned about the American "system" the more I wanted to vomit.

The American political system may allow for freedoms and be recognized as good, but we are far from great, even though greatness was within reach.
