I find the STRATFOR analysis unconvincing. Guerilla warfare is effective if the population supports the guerillas and if the guerillas have adequate supplies of arms. If there is an effective coalition government in Afghanistan, these conditions will not exist for the Taliban.

The Taliban war plan will play out over the coming years rather than days

I hold a different view. I believe that with Afghani assistance, our techincal superiority, and with our exceptionally capable mountain fighting forces (including those of NATO and Russia), we will rapidly prevail in months and not years.

The Taliban and Al Queda will be isolated and pinned down in winter, with no supply lines and little communication in a hostile environment where the natives will not help them.
