Bank of England Sees No Recession,
Revises Outlook (Update2)
By Reed V. Landberg

London, Nov. 14 (Bloomberg) -- The Bank of England said the U.K.
will probably avoid recession and there's a greater chance of
inflation accelerating in the next two years than was the case three
months ago.

In its quarterly report, the bank said economic growth will slacken
next year before accelerating in 2003. The U.S. economy shrank
for the first time in eight years last quarter and the 12 nations
sharing the euro grew at the slowest rate in almost three.

``Growth is likely to slow over the next few quarters,'' Deputy
Governor Mervyn King said. Still, the bank ``does not believe that a
recession in the U.K. is the most likely outcome.''
