Joe, the Presario 8000Z is significantly above the $1000 price niceguy set. Even stripped you cannot get it much below $1300. The retail price tag is usually around 1500-1700 dollars (chech e.g. walmart.com). -fyo

Note that Compaq does not offer any Athlon configuration with WinXP-Pro option. Same 8000 series with the P4 allows either version of WinXP. Micron offers all choices including Win2000 dave

Jozef: Thanks...For some reason Athlon XP's, which were advertized by MDG.ca in Toronto a couple of weeks ago, are no linger available.
