the mideast problems have a lot to do with the locality.

they need to get those people some air conditioning and shade!!!

someone needs to change the weather patterns so the mideast is always rainy... then those people will finally mellow out.

) Much has been said over the years about us Ashkenazi moderates being naive about the Arab mindset.

Had our parents come not from Poland, Germany or Russia, but from Iraq, Morocco or Egypt, say the critics, we would have known better than to build castles of regional harmony in Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's sand, or count on land-for-peace pies in president Hafez Assad's sky. Where they come from, we were told, unlike where we came from, there is no appreciation for pluralism, compromise and meritocracy, all of which were to become mainstays of the New Middle East.

An Arab, we were told, will sign this pact or that deal when circumstances are against him, but once conditions change he will turn on you, and viciously so.

Surely, we were wrong....

...In fact, in waging war on our infants, he turned on that hidden switch which governs Israelis', and any post-Holocaust Jew's mindset whenever they feel cornered. In such moments, we, who came here "from the dark," a mere "50 or 60 years ago," in order to be percisely where our ancestors built temples, tilled the soil and wrote laws, now have this tendency to do exactly what our forebears in Europe so fatally failed to do: fight.

You nailed that one, Gus. The racist mentality of Goldsnow and the rest of the Zionist contingent has been around for eons, long before any "Intifada".

<<< The behavior of the first settlers vis-à-vis the Palestinians was described by Ahad Ha'am after his return from Palestine in 1891 as follows: "They think the only language the Arabs understand is that of violence. Their behavior towards them is - to put it mildly - aggressive. They attack them without reason in their villages and are proud to humiliate them by kicking and beating them. This is the way in which they express their anger about the fact that another people lives in 'their' land and refuses to leave." Ha'am warned the Zionist movement about despising the Arabs, treating them like barbarians and ignoring their interests. >>>

``For the foreign terrorists ... there will be no negotiations, we will not deal with them, they are killers,'' Daoud said, citing their alleged role in the assassination of northern alliance leader Ahmed Shah Massood.

``The foreigners are living between life and death.
