Delphi Wins Major GM Engine Controller Business Delphi's Electronic Engine Controller to Make Engine Management Decisions For GM's Sophisticated Powertrains biz.yahoo.com TROY, Mich., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) recently won a major contract to supply General Motors with an engine controller that is smaller in size but bigger on feature, function and flexibility. The engine controller will make the electronic engine management decisions for a broad line of GM engines. The engine controller will be used across a wide range of GM platforms. ``We are excited to supply this key component for GM's advanced powertrains,'' said Jeff Owens, president of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. ``This advanced engine controller is among the most versatile and functionally- capable engine controller ever produced.'' The new engine controller will enable advanced technological features like displacement on demand and cam phasing. The design gives the vehicle manufacturers the flexibility to mount the unit under the hood or directly on the engine. Delphi's flip-chip technology enables a smaller case design.
