Thanks for the response and for sharing your thoughts on this issue. My suggestion (not that you are asking for one) is for the groups and people concerned with gun violence to concentrate on the issues that cause people to hurt or kill each other instead of the mechanism they use to hurt and kill. That would be a more effective strategy to solve the problems while enlisting the help of the majority of the population that supports our right to protect ourselves.

My opinion though is that these groups are not interested in solving the problems (otherwise we would see a suggestion now and then), but are interested in abolishing the 2nd Amendment. They are playing a political game, and your concern over the real issues would make it clear that some people do care about those issues without blindly blaming an inanimate object or the law abiding citizens who feel that we should be able to protect ourselves.

Being more on the liberal side than most gun owners may give you more credibility since many of the anti-gun groups seem to hate law abiding Americans and reject what they say out of hand.
