Way more potential benefit to YHOO than SBC. SBC has huge revenues based on phone lines. DSL is a struggling biz, competing with cable modem, existing dial up, and slowing economy giving resistance to increased household spending on either dsl or cable modem (more expensive than dial-up).
The increment revenue and increased penetration that DSL deal offers SBC is a wart on a hippo's back (well, could be more.)
For YHOO, it is the most positive step in its march to transform itself from leading portal to money maker. the advertising way of making money is very weak right now. but becoming the head page on DSL is powerful, it will be a partnership, YHOO adding its expertise in web management. But it will be a steady stream of income if it works.
This is like ATHM-EXCITE without spending 8 billion dollars.
On the SBC side, could be the beginning of a major push into dsl and dial up, and internet access. don't forget they bot prodigy for pennies last month or so.
potential bigger deals for yhoo with other baby bells - maybe SBC will buy YHOO - who know. think this is VERY positive for YHOO. as you may be able to tell. larry
