When I say short covering, I think it is a factor in the price movement of many tech stocks over recent times. There has been huge growth in hedge funds over the last year, and much money has been made on the short side.

Many of the bears expected further declines, but in the face of some brightening in the prospects for a quick end to the military operations in Afghanistan, and some encouraging economic news, many of these same bears are running for cover.

Anyway, it can be a combination of factors influencing the movement. Some money is also coming off the sidelines in recent days and is perhaps searching for techs with good future prospects who are well funded to ride out any short term uncertainty.
