Wc,
Kurds in Turkey, iraq, iran, and syria all linked geographically. No state has ever wanted to part with this territory or allow a potentially hostile kurdish state on their border. No love lost between any of the above and the Kurds. But all, at one time or another, have used their kurds to foment trouble in the other states. mike

PS believe there is oil in some parts as well but not sure
