I certainly trust the government to exert military authority, successfully, no problem there - both internationally and domestically. I don't trust the government to respect the sovereign citizen, without constant vigilance and oversight. We have extortionate tax rates, which can only be maintained by increasing secrecy laws to prevent citizens from knowing where their taxes go, and what their servants do. Unfortunately, journalists are the only source of dim light in spite of disgusting misinformation and irrelevancies. You and I aren't likely to experience much of these problems, it's the 90% working stiffs that pay most of the taxes and don't have time to think about the vise slowly closing in on them... It's incredible to me what my employees and kids pay in taxes, compared to income. And this is for a government that is increasingly impossible to have access to.
