The World - 2002 and beyond: -
The battle for internet supremacy is being whittled down to a few combatents. Davids with sling shots need not apply. The big bruisers are:
AOL/TWX - AOL with 30 million plus subscribers, tons of content, tenacles in europe and LA, Roadrunner cable modem biz and 2nd largest cable company. Aggressive, good marketers, steady cash flow, used internet stock to buy old economy assets (TWX) - to make it the largest entertainment company in the world.
MSFT- battling AOL for customers thru MSN, new XP OS leads customers to MSFT sites. A heavy competitor, but has not been able to make much of a dent in AOL's subscriber base.
SBC/YHOO/Prodigy???? - new kid on the block? backed by $$$$ of SBC, could become a major force, likely to make some acquisitions to bolster its net presence. targets???? welcome thoughts on potential acquisition targets.
T - ATT- largest cable company plus now operator of ATHM -largest cable modem service. Also largest f*ck-up of any major corporation that i've seen. But, T, or parts of it (Cable, ATHM???) might well become acquisition targets, Comcast has already made a bid for T's cable biz.
Let the games begin. larry

Larry,

Doing a contest similar to the one last year would be fine with me. I need to see if I can find the spreadsheet and maybe see if Dan can help me with Excel in case I run into some problems.
