Thanks, RS. Understood. So there's no magic in second constellation satellites, at least as regards the urban canyon and indoor reception issues.

Have they, to your knowledge, ever worked out a "soft handoff" between cell and satellite of different frequencies? I understand it would not address the phone size isue. It also occurs to me that, since the bulk of the minutes on an existing cell / sat system would go to cell, successor G* would need a way to tap revenues from cell minutes. Maybe that's why LWIN is an attractive cell partner - limited mobility guarantees G* lots of "out of cell coverage" minutes.
