I think you discard too much the new capitalist Russian, they want to establish market share (steal clients away from OPEC) and they'll do it the old fashioned way, price competition and increased capacity. In the meanwhile we are developing an emd of the day mini rally (1905 or so target), so in the last 20 minutes I deployed the Q, trying to make about half a buck each

Qlgc went first here at $48.05, just a little less than $.50.

But George, Russia has never paid much heed to OPEC, and it doesn't take much (full-blown Iraq and/or Russia, plus some rambunctiousnes from Mexico), and the prisoner's dilemma takes hold, and former big cheaters like Venezuela go back to old cheatin' ways themselves..

OPEC is in some serious trouble here...the U.S. is going to nail them for not going along with the $20-25 earlier, by letting it stay below $20 for a while*. This is going to kill some of their economies..

* BTW- I'm not saying this is right....we erred by letting oil go down to $10 a couple years ago...that was unnecessary, and just pissed off OPEC, and they retaliated with the +30$, blah, blah...

The Chavez-led new discipline to undergo a serious test in the coming months...but the Iraqis are going to come back on full-blown at some point, and Russia is not going to ease much pressure anytime soon, and economic weakeness is going to be with us for a while....bad news for OPEC.. and $20+ oil
