Bill... when you ask -- "Why is it, do you think, Jack Welch pushed every operating unit of General Electric to Internet-enable itself" -- you raise a serious question about the huge difference between effective use of technology, as in the case of GE, versus stock speculation in companies associated with that technology. The internet "revolution" is most likely to be to the benefit of the GE's of the world, and not the Yahoo's, much less the failed models like AMZN. GE is making effective use of technology and Yahoo is grossly over-priced -- both of these statements can be true without contradicting one another -- and both probably are more or less accurate assessments.

ps - not many folks "held back" and that is why we have such a HUGE inventory glut of "internet enabled" crap out there and csco can barely make a buck.
