Frankly I thought the article sort of rambled, but I'm not sure that Mr. Friedman and I are too far apart. I understand that in Pakistan, I can buy a T shirt with a choice of colors, and that the T shirt will have the face of OBL on the front. I understand that it's like buying what I used to call a Hero shirt. In America the face on the T shirt would be Michael Jordan, Jon Bon Jovi or Madonna. That in Pakistan, it's the face of Osama bin Laden. I understand that American capitalism is alive and well on the streets and in the alleys of Afghanistan. Isn't that called capitalism? The system that the "Great Satan" perfected? I am beginning to think that Jihad means fight for who gets the meanest toys. Leaving behind the phone number was nice, although I would venture to guess that they would have to rely on antiquated land lines to keep in touch? Not to worry! Wireless is evolving into the solution to mankind's overwhelming desire to communicate. The Afghanis, Pashtuns, Hazaras ect. are just as entitled as the rest of us if they are willing to go that far? I would like to suggest that they let Lucent or Nortel install a state of the art, brand spanking new wireless CDMA based system of the newest and best technology available on Earth? By now they should understand their inadequacies? I said from the very beginning of this war that in order to bring these people into the 21st century, we, along with the rest of the world will have to guarantee the common people of the middle east an education, and a computer in every home. But what about the rote lesson of hate that the Dural Uloom Haqqania teaches to the young boys of the ME? Where do they fit in this new order? Do they fit in at all? Are women going to get an education too? These are genuine questions that crave answers. Answers Americans, and the rest of the worlds people honestly deserve. So far I have not heard them, but it is early and I am full of patience. What I understand is that those "religious fanatics" would shoot me dead. They would shoot me and my loved ones dead. They would shoot all of my fellow Americans dead if given the chance. I understand that my President realizes that too, and that he is providing me and my people solutions. As for the Arab and Pakistani Taliban surrounded in Kunduz, they would as soon slit your throat as look at you. M
